Travel survival kit.. sort of.

Hello there! How have you been doing? I’m writing now from my sister’s apartment in Urbana, Illinois, USA. So, that means I’m in the States already, yay! Two days ago my sister and I arrived and set our foot for the first time on this land after bearing 30-hour journey all the way from Jakarta. That lengthy time also marked the longest flight journey I’ve ever taken in my whole life. And for the first time in my life, I felt like all parts of my body falling off their places, literally. Dead tired we were! Sleep-deprived, food-deprived, energy-deprived, and beauty-deprived (haha) But we’re happy and arrived safe and sound, so nothing else matters! As you see above is a picture of some stuff in my flight-survival-kit bag. In fact, they didn’t quite do the job (because I slept 25 hours out of 30 hours, the rest 5 hours were transit time. So reading books? not a chance.)

So, whilst struggling with jet lag sickness and energy recovery, yesterday my sister and I  managed to venture out this town just to get familiar with everything in here. We experimented the bus service route (getting lost has always been my classic style, so you can guess what happened), went to her lovely campus (i love the neighbourhood of her campus) for registration and all and finally bought some stuff to fill in this spacey room. We are excited to furbish and decorate this little apartment today and also to explore more of this town! Off for the day! Toodles.

Friday night out.

Happy weekend all!

Yesterday night, Friday night, was really fun. We arranged an exciting night out with cousins and went to Luna Negra cafe of all places (actually it’s my cousins who picked it). I didn’t know that place until yesterday and turned out I loved the place, probably because it isn’t inside a shopping mall! I’m dead bored of hanging out at shopping mall (this city doesn’t have a lot of hang-out-places choices but shopping mall, fact I can’t do anything about) I’d rather stay at home these days than tire myself walking aimlessly around the mall.

So that night, we had dinner and blurted out lots of stories and jokes. They are so funny and my cheekbones were almost dead of laughing. But it was good and fun and healthy, really! We should do this more often, probably sans my sister this 1 year ahead. I’m really going to miss her. Deep sigh. Sometimes I’m still convinced that we’re actually twins. Could we be? No. But somehow..

What’s everybody up to this weekend? My parents aren’t in town, sister is having a date, and friends are also having a date. And le boyfriend? He’s been in London for a while to attend his graduation ceremony (I envy him! But he’s going to hide a lot of Hobnobs Biscuit milk&chocolate in his baggage for moi… needless to say, I’m calm! Yuhuu!) well anyway, nothing much I would do this weekend but dwell myself into books or watch grey’s anatomy until I die (Dr. Shepherd has got me all lunatic with his charm, oh my goodness) or have a sister-brother date with the little brother, perhaps? Ok. That would be fun, too, I suppose, unless he discusses football or gadget with me, or anything of that kinds I haven’t a clue. Go seize your weekend! Toodles.

Upcoming “on-duty” trip

I’m backk! A week without writing a post sure is bizzare and I feel like losing a grip (oh, drama queen I am).. it has been quite a lengthy pause, hasn’t it? In case you’re wondering, life is pretty good, I’m yet to be hired by any company. A series of tests and job interviews are ongoing and I promise to do my best.

Ok, in earlier posts I did mention about being granted for an entry visa. That’s to say, I’m about to travel in near future, in about a week time actually, with my sister. We’re going to the United States, yay! This particular trip isn’t completely for holiday or leisure, for what it’s worth. In fact, I’m on duty! As my younger sister is pursuing her Master’s degree in University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (I’m a proud sister!), my parents summon me to be her company during the first two weeks as to help her settle in during those first days. Truth is, I’m a wanderlust, I couldn’t turn down that golden opportunity that I promptly answered “YES !” to the offer. This is gonna be my first visit there and I’m giddy excited, despite the fact that it isn’t a holiday as in casual holiday. Our flight is Chicago bound and soon as we arrive, we will head straight to Urbana-Champaign where I will stay over for 11 days. Despite being a versatile plan, we also hope to sneak some days off to some parts of the East coast (NYC and DC, perhaps?). Has anyone been to any of those aforementioned places? I’d love to hear a few tips from you. Come and drop by ; )

How’s your day, anyway? I went out with my sister and brother today. And call us crazy as you may, my sister and I are just about to go to gym and it’s bloody 9 pm now, haha! So we better go, otherwise… Toodles.
