an attempt of parisian style

I had a lovely weekend with lovely people in a lovely city. J’adore Paris!

Thanksgiving

First of all, happy thanksgiving weekend!! Eventhough I’ve never celebrated thanksgiving before, I think I kind of like the idea of thanksgiving day. Well, it isn’t about the celebration with turkey or gifts-exchanging (although both would do beyond great) but more importantly, I perceive this thanksgiving day as a day when we just be thankful for whatever we want to.

I once read (and watched) the book “eat, pray, love” and there was one scene when everybody had dinner together on a thanksgiving night. Everybody was happy! after the dinner they were made to sit hand-in-hand with the people sitting next to them then each of them shared one little thankful message with eyes closed. For instance “I’m thankful for my wife who has become such a great lover blablabla…” Then I came to I imagine myself being at that scene. Frankly, I don’t think I would mention only one thankfulness. In fact, I have way too many things to be thankful for. I personally think I am a bit demanding at heart. Just right after I accomplish something, I tend to promptly ask for another, then when I finally get it, I’ll ask again. and it will keep going on like that. Well, one might say it’s the art of life when we are always encouraged to gain and achieve something more, something better than before. It’s good, indeed. I don’t argue until that point. However, what’s so good if we (with our demanding mind and heart) don’t feel happy with all those gifts and we keep on worrying about tomorrow?! In such way, I think it’s good to take a laid-back time for a little while, worry for nothing as in ask for nothing, be relax, and deliver our thankfulness to Him, the almighty. I guess that’s the way to percieve happiness. Have a thankful heart to what we have, what we are, what we do. regardless anything.

I don’t know whether this post will at some point inspire you or what, but it is actually dedicated to nobody but myself.

finding a little vintage store

When strolling around the Penzance city centre, I discovered a little vintage store (actually there were some vintage stores there, but I was head over heels in love with this particular one). My bad, I can’t seem to remember the name of this store. Below are some sneak peeks of the store.

I’ve always had a hook on vintage decorations, honestly. So, that little trip pretty much pleased me especially my eyes. Morever, they had a really outdated SLR and lomo cameras I fell in love with. Well, fingers crossed I can come back some other time and take them with me. (I’m still obsessed) haha. It was so much fun that I think I need to do this kind of trip more often. hmm..

Day 3: St. Ives beach

Time has almost come to wrap up our trip. Here we are on the last day of  the trip. St. Ives is only 7 miles away from Hayle,  a town where we stayed in, about 20 minutes drive. I have nothing to say but, AMAZING! my heart skipped a beat just as soon as I saw the beach view. I guess pictures below can tell (not that I say I’m a good photographer haha). What caught by my eyes was far way more beautiful, seriously.

It was a bit cloudy and dark on that day and seemed as though rain would fall soon. Hence, we decided not to spend the whole day over there. I hate rain. I didn’t want the same thing in Belfast happen to my camera again, in this case the new one. But all in all, we enjoyed our quick visit to St. Ives. I, in the first place, didn’t plan to play with the water by the beach, but only to take pictures. Then I changed my mind, gave up that plan and instead, went near the beach to play with beach water like a little kid (also took some videos but I’m too embarrassed to post it here haha). In fact, all of us (me and friends) stepped forward to reach water by the beach. It’s not a beach like many of you might imagine where there are bunch of visitors playing, sitting on the sand, sunbathing, etc. The wind was too strong for that kind of activities. So the visitors were a bit calm there. Most of them only went round for a while, then went to the nearest bar or restaurant to chill out. I wonder if it’s a different ambiance during summer holiday. So, finally, we then headed back to Birmingham. I personally was satisfied by this particular roadtrip. In 3 days we visited quite some places yet we could enjoy each place without any rush. The difficult-to-find-chinese-restaurant during the trip might be the only drawback (though it’s actually the most essential one haha. we found ourselves as a group of people who suffered from starve for days)

p.s. well, there was, too, another misfortune: our car got clamped by the security because we were late 20 minutes. So, here’s the story behind… we bought the 2 hours parking ticket, and turned out we appeared 2 hours and 20 minutes later which made us fined 80 pounds. 80 pounds for 20 minutes late, for God’s sake!! Just our luck. But at least we got lesson to learn. Don’t forget the parking time limit.

p.p.s. I’m only a few days away from Eurotrip! woohooo. Will go visit my friends in Netherland this coming weekend and I’m also expecting my sister to come a few days later then (her visa is still in process. really hope it will be issued on time!) then we’re up to Eurotrip together. Hopefully, everything is on track. I’m coming more on to this later!
